National Business Machines on significant growth trajectory as the firm celebrates 30 years in business

National Business Machines (NBM Ltd), the longest established Xerox partner in Ireland, is celebrating a significant milestone of 30 years this month, with a 45% growth in their business in Ireland and overseas over the past five years, and plans for further expansion over the next two years.

NBM, a provider of business machines and a print management company headquartered at the South Link Business Park in Cork, was one of the first Xerox Partners to be established in Europe in 1985, and has grown to be a Xerox Premier Partner and the largest Irish concessionaire over the past 30 years, with offices in Cork, Waterford and Limerick.

The company covers the Munster and South Leinster region for Xerox, with a suite of products and services ranging from small desktop printers and multi-function printers’ to large production print equipment, software packages that maximise the productivity of the overall solution, printing audits and managed print services.

NBM has not only survived two major recessions, but they achieved 45% growth in a period of serious decline in the economy.  Instead of downsizing like their competitors, NBM increased and upskilled their workforce over the past 5 years and invested heavily in state of the art premises, smart new technologies, and marketing, while expanding their product offering.
One of the biggest growth areas for the company over this period has been their expansion into Managed Print Services (MPS).  MPS allows customers to outsource all their printing and imaging requirements. Every job done by a printer, fax machine, copier or multifunction device is managed by NBM and they efficiently and cost-effectively handle larger printing projects for clients at a set cost.  This service has helped NBM to branch out internationally and they currently manage print for corporations in 14 different countries in addition to being a market leader in Ireland.

The company is now looking at new growth opportunities that will see them in business for another 30 years, including expansion opportunities and plans to increase their work force by 20% over the next two years,.
Commenting, Michael Galvin, Managing Director and one of the founding partners of National Business Machines, said, “As we celebrate our 30th year in business we are so proud to have come through more than one economic downturn, rapid advances in technology and hugely increasing demand for print services in every facet of business life. Expanding our company and continuing with key contracts and partnerships is exactly where we had hoped we would be at this milestone. We have a renewed focus on the future and want to sincerely thank our wonderful team and valued clients for their continued loyalty”.

“We have a leading product range in the industry, and are in a unique position to offer our clients cutting-edge Xerox technologies in the digital printing industry.  We have the benefit of being a small company while having the backing of a multinational company, allowing us to deliver goods and services anywhere in the world in a seamless manner.”

Over the past 15 years NBM has evolved with the digital age, and they continue to expand into businesses that complement their portfolio. One of the most significant acquisitions was PBE 10 years ago when NBM acquired the Xerox concessionaire based in Waterford, expanding their reach to all of Munster and South Leinster.
